An Album I Love: Sleep Token's This Place Will Become Your Tomb

I admittedly first heard a snippet of Sleep Token’s music on the clock app. It was the sound for an AI-generated image trend that I didn’t participate in, but enjoyed if only to hear the song. When I finally looked it up, I realized it was a 15-second clip of a six minute song. The Summoning could definitely be described as a sexy song and is a worthy introduction to the band’s discography. It’s also an introduction into lore that may seem overly theatric to new listeners.

I kept going though, and listened to the entirety of not only the song, but Sleep Token’s third album Take Me Back to Eden. I continued on with their discography and found my favorite in This Place Will Become Your Tomb. For me, it’s one of those rare albums that I can play from front to back, then hit shuffle knowing I’ll be fine with whatever plays next.

This album is full of what I love to listen to: incredible vocals, storytelling, and music swells that shake your soul. My current “must plays” are in the first half of the album: “Mine”, which has my favorite note slide; “Like That”, a sexy, growly masterpiece; and “Atlantic”, a beautiful opener to a very, very good album. To say I’m a big fan is incredibly accurate.
